Captains Bio

Bay to Bay Charters, Captain Miles Arsenault, born in Halifax, Nova Scotia with his family’s heritage being from Summerside, Prince Edward Island. Miles moved around a lot as a child as his father served in the Canadian Air Force. Miles moved from the Maritimes to London Ontario where he lived fifteen years before moving to Victoria in 1983. He is so glad to call this Island his home.

Miles has traveled the world, from Asia, Europe, Australia, Cuba, Central America and North America. He has chosen Vancouver Island for its serenity, mild climate, wildlife, archipelago of the islands and rugged coastlines beyond.  Miles enjoys playing and working on the ocean, with over 25 years of boating experience in both sailing and motor vessels.

During his years on Vancouver Island, Miles owned and operated Smiles Photography from 1985 – 2012. Miles enjoyed aerial photography the most out of his varied assignments. He photographed Royal Victoria Marathon (Sport) 18 years, Victoria Real Estate Board (Corporate) 17 years and Thrifty foods (Aerial) for 6 years, just a few of his many clients.

Miles enjoys the ongoing restoration of his 1910 Victorian home for the past 22 years and maintaining of a 5 star rating for his little condo “ The Miraloma Studio Penthouse Suite” on Airbnb in Sidney B.C, now in its fourth year.

Keeping his guests happy is what he does best!

For six years Miles had been serving as a Facilities Maintenance Technician at Van Isle Marina in Sidney. In his commuting from his home in Cowichan Bay to work at Van Isle Marina, via his motorboat, he quickly noticed that there was a big need for a water taxi service to and from the local shorelines and surrounding islands. Miles  first registered Bay to Bay Charters in 2015, with the focus of it being a “keep busy position” after retirement. Well look who's retired now!!!
